Perfect Book for Fathers-to-Be + Giveaway – CLOSED
Father’s Day is coming soon. So, today, I’d like to feature a book that makes the perfect gift for new parents, especially new dads.
The book is called Cheers to the New Mom!/Cheers to the New Dad!: Tips and Tricks to Help You Ace the First Months of Parenthood and was written by Jenna McCarthy, an internationally published writer.
One of the things I like the most about this book, besides the practical advice, is it’s innovative flip-cover design. It’s actually two books in one! The “dad†side is packed with the sort of advice fledgling fathers need (“Things not to ask your wife once the baby arrives: What’s for dinner? When do you think you might lose that weight? Why is s/he still crying? Did you wear those pajamas all day? What were we thinking?â€). Also popular are the “happy parents make happy babies†tips on caring for yourself and your partner. The publishing date was 4/09 and it is already in bookstores nationwide; in fact, Barnes&Noble recently featured it on a special Mother’s Day display—and likely will do the same for father’s day.
You can visit Jenna’s website at http://www.jennamccarthy.com.
“Cheers” is available on Amazon, of course, as well as dozens of other online retailers.

Sometimes books have good information that help new parents know what is normal and expected. That helps.

Yes, I think they can. If nothing other than just to let the new parents know that they are not the first one’s to experience the question “what in the heck am I doing here?”

Books really help parents to be! I know because I am one and I know how nervous I am. Although books don’t give me first hand experience, they do give me knowledge so I won’t be completely clueless. This is a great giveaway because I know a wonderful father-to-be who could use such a book!

I think they are great, especially for parents who like to read and don’t consider it an extra chore:-)

June 19th, 2009 at 3:21 am
Yes I think books can help parents, cause they have all kinds of info in them.
June 19th, 2009 at 3:53 am
I think the books give them an idea of what to expect – at least more than they would know without the books. And it lets them feel like they are more in control at such a fast-changing time in their lives, so if they want to read books – then they should! I would still think most of what they actually DO will be instinct and reactions – but books probably help!

As a new parent myself, I say yes! Things don’t usually go as smoothly as I plan while reading the books, but I feel confident that I have some “know how” or awareness of situations I meet.
June 20th, 2009 at 7:48 am
It’s good to learn from others and books can help with that.
June 20th, 2009 at 8:22 am
I would say yes. When I was pregnant I read as many books as I could get my hands on. I know that not every book is tailored to you, but I foud some really good information in some of them.

I do think they help, there are times when you just can’t get help from family/friends, and books have a lot of info. And normally the correct info as opposed to what others say lol! Thanks for the chance!
