Something to Wrap Your Arms Around

As I write these words it’s still a little chilly outside (o-k, make that real chilly outside) and that means that when I get home from a long day at the office or I’m back from the gym after a particularly excruciating (but strangely enjoyable) workout, there’s nothing I like better than wrapping myself up in a blanket, while lying down on the couch or curling up near the ‘ol fireplace.

Unfortunately, as much as I wish my significant other is always available in these moments to — you know — create a little body heat with me, I know that’s just wishful thinking on my part. But I don’t mind, because as long as I have my SLANKET (www.theslanket.com ), I can cuddle up alone and not feel the least bit guilty.

The SLANKET is exactly what it sounds like: part shirt and part blanket! Ideal for snuggling up with

2009 Valentine’s Gift Guide – Rock My World Inc.

Heart Shaped Thumbprint Necklace

Heart Shaped Thumbprint Necklace

We mentioned Rock My World Inc in our 2009 Valentine’s Gift Guide.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it’s time to consider what to get instead of the usual standbys of flowers and chocolates. Consider something a little different and unique, such as Rock My World Inc. on Etsy. Rock My World Inc. is unique hand casted silver jewelry. It’s definitely not cookie cutter jewelry since no two pieces can ever be identical. Each piece from Rock My World Inc. is made from the “lost wax casting” method, a process in which a piece is made into wax and cast with sterling silver. What’s even better is the sterling silver is re-purposed from older jewelry pieces and reused to make the jewelry at Rock My World Inc.

Heart Shaped Thumbprint Necklace

This Valentine’s Day consider the Sterling Silver Heart Shaped Thumbprint Necklace. It’s a great gift for mothers and grandmothers who can wear this one-of-a-kind keepsake of their loved one. Each necklace is engraved with the name on the back.

Forget Me Knot Bow Ring

Forget Me Knot Bow Ring is another great Valentine’s gift idea. This Forget Me Knot ring is actually made from a piece of string and hand casted out of the “recycled” sterling silver. This unique gift is great for wives, girlfriends, and for that special someone in your life. In addition to getting a unique gift, you would be helping a good cause. Twenty percent of the proceeds from each ring is donated to the Tri-County Humane Society in South Florida.

2009 Valentine’s Gift Guide – PsiBands.com

photo courtesy of psibands.comWe featured Psi Bands in our 2009 Valentine’s Gift Guide.

PsiBands (pronounced “sigh bands”) are stylish drug-free acupressure wrist bands that relieve nausea due to travel (motion sickness), as well as pregnancy, anesthesia, or chemotherapy.

They come in five fun designs (two of them in Valentine’s RED). They are also the only bands that are adjustable at both the acupressure point and around the wrist to fit the user and allow for swelling that sometimes occurs during pregnancy and medical procedures. The FDA-cleared bands are also waterproof (no more soggy wristbands), reusable, and affordable.

About 90% of people suffer from motion sickness at some point in their lives, with women being more susceptible. From 1/3 to 1/2 of airline passengers will experience some degree of motion sickness when encountering heavy turbulence, and almost 100% of boat passengers become motion sick in rough seas. Psi Bands are worn on both wrists at the Nei-kuan acupressure point. Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses pressure to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. Whether for an active traveler, an expectant mom or someone undergoing medical procedures, Psi Bands help people who suffer from the very common, yet debilitating condition of nausea to be able to feel better — in style!

The Story: Psi Bands were invented by two moms after discovering the positive effects of using wrist acupressure to alleviate their nausea after experiencing many months of morning sickness during each of their pregnancies. Since the existing products were dull and unsatisfying, they set out to create something both functional and fashionable for others who suffer from nausea.

The Price: Psi Bands come two to a set and sell for around $14.99 per set. They can be purchased at Amazon and some of your local drug stores.
